PARKS
The Parks Committee brings the community together to care for and celebrate Russian Hill's parks. We advocate for proper maintenance, stay involved in park planning and improvements, and keep neighbors informed. We also host events that promote stewardship, connection, and fun in our green spaces.
WE DO THIS BY:
- Documenting local native plants and the wildlife they support through the Naturalist project to promote a sustainable, resilient, and healthy neighborhood ecosystem
- Planting species that feed butterfly caterpillars and native bees, extending wildlife corridors through Russian Hill and beyond, supporting pollinators and wildlife
- Adding native plants during the rainy season (Nov–Feb)
- Removing invasive species and trimming overgrowth
- Watering and caring for new plantings in their first year
- Responding to concerns raised by residents and businesses
- Advocating with city, state, federal, and nonprofit partners to expand and maintain connected native plant corridors across San Francisco

VOLUNTEER WORK DAY!🍃
We host monthly volunteer events, usually on the third Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, rotating through different neighborhood parks. No gardening experience is needed. RHN Parks provides tools, guidance, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the views, meet neighbors, and help keep our parks thriving.
